Right now, I have four boxes of cereal stored in my laundry basket in my bedroom closet. (And as I write that, I wonder why I’ve never stored anything in there before. Sure, I have to dump it out when I do the laundry, but it wouldn’t be a bad place to store laundry detergent.) Why, you [...] The other day, my roommate accused me of being cheap. You see, we take turns buying certain things for the apartment – dish detergent, coffee, toilet paper. The stuff we both use regularly. There’s no set rule on brands or anything, though if I went and bought 18 rolls of toilet paper, she couldn’t go [...] A good friend of mine is an epidemiologist (what a cool job), and she and I were talking about H1N1 the other day. She made an interesting point. Some people are saying things like “This is the next apocalypse” whereas others say “This whole Swine Flu thing has been blown out of proportion,” and neither [...] A few weeks ago, the local news was reporting the story of a young woman who went out for a morning jog and got hit by a bus while in a crosswalk. The woman was not carrying identification or a phone and was unconscious. They were reporting her general stats (height, weight, age, hair color) [...] I’m starting to feel the home buying urge again. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s my age. Maybe it’s the idea that I’m just tossing my rent checks into the wind every month. Who knows. I’ve tried making pro and con lists. And there are lots of things on both sides.
