Here is a list of survival tactics you should be using to weather the COVID-19 pandemic. Plenty of pundits are trying to politicize this global health crisis; what follows has absolutely NOTHING to do with politics and EVERYTHING to do with the survival (financial and otherwise) of you and your loved ones.
Articles like this should not be necessary given the amount of publicity and information sharing about coronavirus. But after two weeks of protest gatherings and the potential spread of COVID-19 as a result, this article feels VERY necessary.
Stay Home During COVID-19
So many people fail to understand that there is a simple equation to the stay-at-home requirement. That equation is this:
- People can have COVID-19 without showing or feeling symptoms;
- The people those non-symptomatic COVID-19 carriers come in contact with can be infected by asymptomatic people;
- If you are asymptomatic you will not know unless tested;
- The actions you take not knowing you have COVID-19 can potentially kill others’
- It is your personal responsibility to NOT SPREAD the virus.
Do Not Attend Or Go Near Protests, Or Any Other Crowded Place
A highly contagious virus like COVID-19, which has no treatment or cure at the time of this writing, will not respect your opinions or beliefs. If you go near crowded places, you risk infecting yourself AND carrying COVID-19 home to your loved ones. COVID-19 protesters have died as a result of getting sick from the disease. Let that sink in.
Some Coronavirus Anti-Lockdown Protesters Are Dying Of COVID-19
Consider the case of John McDaniel, an Ohio resident who died at a hospital in Columbus after testing positive for COVID-19. McDaniel’s stance on the coronavirus lockdown included social media rants against Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and the closure of bars and restaurants as part of social distancing and containment measures.
McDaniel’s rants included the following as reported by Buzzfeed; “Does anybody have the guts to say this Covid19 is a political ploy? Asking for a friend. Prove me wrong.”
Another quote from McDaniel includes this;
“‘He doesn’t have that authority. If you are paranoid about getting sick just don’t go out. It shouldn’t keep those of us from living our lives. The madness has to stop.’”:
Unfortunately, it DID stop for John McDaniel, who is now dead of COVID-19.
Ask A Doctor
It is vital to get your information about healthcare, infections, treatment, and possible cures for COVID-19 from reputable sources. Do not try ANY so-called cure, treatment, or other medical steps without consulting your primary care provider.
What you read on social media has nothing to do with the rigorous standards applied to approved medical procedures; taking advice on medical issues from the internet without asking your doctor is tantamount to finding a pill on the floor and taking it in hopes that it will cure your runny nose. Doctors are required to attend EIGHT YEARS of medical training just to CALL THEMSELVES DOCTOR.
If you don’t have that eight years of training and context under your belt, do you REALLY think you can make an informed medical choice without asking an actual trained professional?
