Being a dietician is an incredibly rewarding job, and you might be in a great 9-5 job that you adore. But have you ever thought about ways to increase your earnings as a dietician? Maybe you can pick up a side hustle, maybe even find one that you can make into your full-time job!
Create an Online Group
One great way to increase your earnings as a dietician is to setup a paid online group where you offer general nutritional tips and guidance. Plenty of people are looking to work with a dietician, either for improving sports performance or losing weight or just improving their general diet. You can setup a multi-week program where you offer tips, printouts, guidance, maybe even meal plans, and have question and answer times for your members. With just a few extra hours each week, you can bring in some additional money.
Subscription Recipe Plans
Does anyone else struggle to figure out what to cook? You can increase your earnings as a dietician by making a meal plan and selling it as part of a subscription. Plenty of people would love to receive a meal plan with a grocery list every week. This is a great way to make some additional money by just creating one thing and selling it to multiple people. You can start out by offering free weeks to entice people to subscribe.
Write for a blog or newsletter
Many dieticians increase their earnings by writing for blogs, newsletters, or other websites. One very popular way to make money now is to start a newsletter, and once you have a number of subscribers, offer a few paid-only posts. Keep your free posts to entice people to sign up, but also include some posts for paid subscribers. If the subscription is only a few dollars, people are going to be much more likely to sign up. Substack is a great site to use for a service like this.
Create downloadable content
If you aren’t up for creating a subscription service, consider creating some downloadable content for users. Sample meal plans with a few recipes, ideas for quick and easy meals, especially meals for kids, even templates for how to create a meal plan or a shopping list, all of these things can be valuable to people and can increase your earnings as a dietician.
Don’t Join an MLM
You will see some advice telling you to sign up for network marketing companies to increase your earnings as a dietician. I don’t recommend that you join an MLM. In my opinion, it makes you less reputable as a dietician. If I see a dietician partnering with an MLM company, I immediately take them off of my list because I feel like they’re just trying to take advantage of me and others to make money without providing me any real benefits.

Megan is a 40-something government employee in the Washington, DC area. She got interested in Personal Finance when she got out of college and realized that her paycheck wasn’t going to go as far as she had hoped. Since starting this blog, she has managed to buy a house and make a solid start on her retirement goals, and hopes to help others do the same. Here is her story:
In 2007, I was a gainfully employed 20-something with no debt but not a lot of knowledge about personal finance. It was a co-worker’s comment about Roth IRAs that sent me to the internet, searching for information. It was then that I realized that I really didn’t know a whole lot about personal finance and that my current financial situation was due a lot to inherent frugal tendencies, generous family members, a fear of debt, and good luck. While that was working for me, clearly I needed a better plan.
While I had no debt, I was also pretty much living paycheck to paycheck and not worrying about going over budget (I say this as if I had a real budget) because I had an emergency fund set aside to cover any overages.
Except that’s not what an emergency fund is for.
So I did a lot of research, read a lot of blogs, and decided that I needed a plan. I needed to budget. I needed to know what I was spending my money on. I needed to prepare for the future.
I decided to create a blog not only to make myself accountable to others but also to share the knowledge that I gained along the way. I’ve learned so much from my fellow bloggers, and I hope that my readers can find something useful in what I have to share as well.
